The Prelude: Creamy Dreams and Minty Wishes
Cream cheese, with its velvety texture, and mint, with its cool and invigorating essence, make an unlikely yet delightful pair. The magic happens when they come together in a dance of flavors, creating a symphony of sweetness and freshness. Before we dive into the recipe, let's take a moment to appreciate the whimsical allure of this delightful duo:
-
Creamy Canvas: Cream cheese, with its rich and silky profile, provides the perfect foundation. It adds a luscious creaminess that complements the boldness of the mint extract.
-
A Mint & Vanilla Whirlwind: Mint, with its aromatic leaves and crisp flavor, introduces a burst of freshness that elevates any dessert. The vanilla extract brings in a depth of flavor that you would miss out, should you leave it out. Both extracts are perfect in this Ed Recipe.
-
Perfect Pairing: The velvet nature of cream cheese and bright burst of mint flavor lies in their ability to balance each other. Creaminess meets freshness.
Now, let's begin and bring the magic of this Cream Cheese Mint Recipe to life.

- Instructions:
-
To start: Cream the butter and cream cheese together.
-
Whip it, Whip it Good: Next, add in the salt, both extracts and 1 heaping cup of powdered sugar (yes, we will be adding all 2 pounds together slowly) and mix on low.
-
Slowly Mix and Add, Mix and Add: As you blend the ingredients, add in heaping tablespoons (or cups) of the remaining 2 pounds of powdered sugar slowly - allowing time for the powdered sugar to incorporate. I eventually went to 1 cup at a time and it still worked very well!
-
We are creating a DOUGH like consistency here so patience is key.
-
If wanting multiple colors:
-
Remove the dough from the mixer once all powdered sugar has been combined. You will want to knead this dough until it looks smooth. You can shape it into a log (see video) and cut it in sections.
Take each section of the dough and add in 1 drop of Sugar Art Gel Colors. You can see the exact colors we used below.
- Or if you're only wanting to do ONE color - you can add it to the main mixer.
- If you're good with just doing one color of these delectable mints, you can certainly add the gel color when you're adding the extracts and this will make the coloring process much easier. Again, only 1 drop - dessert mints are supposed to be pastel colors and these gels are STRONG.
Shaping the Creamy Whirls:
-
Unleash Your Creative Spirit: Put on your chef's hat and unleash your creative spirit. With this cream cheese mints recipe - there's no right or wrong way to shape the little creamy delights! You can either shape them into long, skinny logs and cut them as little rectangle dessert mints (which is the easiest technique and still just as beautiful_ OR you can have fun with shapes, like we did with our heart cutter plunger! Keep in mind, however, that whatever shape you choose needs to be no bigger than 2-3 inches, as these are meant to be little "after dinner" dessert mints. Which also can be used for tea parties, birthday parties, etc!
-
The Heart Shape: If you are going to use a tool like this, it's best to cut out the mints on parchment paper - so there is an easy release from the cutter. We did try silicone molds, the candies did not come out well because they are super soft. So using very small cutters will be best.
-
Magical Tea Party: Serve your Cream Cheese Mints Delights at a lovely tea party. Add them to a decadent dessert table for weddings or birthday parties! The options are limitless and you'll standby and watch as guests enjoy these delightful mints!
-
Gifts of Enchantment: Share the magic by gifting these cream cheese mints! Package them in whimsically decorated boxes, or even clear bags with a cute ribbon, and spread the joy of Cream Cheese Mint Delight.
